Leprino Foods is Hiring an Associate Microbiologist Near Denver, CO

Within our corporate laboratory services team located in Denver – Leprino is seeking an Associate Microbiologist responsible for performing pathogen and other microbiological testing on manufactured products, purchased products and environmental samples in a timely and accurate manner. In addition, this position supports the Microbiology and Global Research Development & Quality (GRDQ) teams by providing overall lab support, acting as a diligent and accurate technical resource, and sharing knowledge and innovative ideas to continuously improve the company.

At Leprino Foods, starting compensation for this role typically ranges between $58,900 and $67,700. This position has an annual target bonus of 5%.

  • Conduct accurate and safe uses of quality/pathogen control checks of microbiological testing.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all testing results, comments, deviations and control information.
  • Follow all safety precautions associated with laboratory procedures as documented in Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Perform proficiency testing.
  • Communicate test results to internal customers.
  • Perform SOPs to safely and accurately open and close the lab.
  • Safely and correctly handle biohazardous materials.
  • Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) and mentorship to lower-level positions.
  • Demonstrate gained experience and knowledge by providing guidance and technical knowledge to internal and external customers.
  • Troubleshoot non-compliance testing in conjunction with the Microbiology Manager and assists with corrections.
  • Check own work to ensure errors are identified and corrected.
  • Demonstrate cross-functional collaboration with [senior] team members on project concepts.

  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biology, Genetics, Bacteriology, or similar fields of study.
  • Testing experience within a laboratory as a microbiologist.
  • Are humble, inquisitive, patient, collaborative, innovative, results-oriented, and resilient - the DNA of a Leprino employee.

  • A Master’s Degree in Microbiology.
  • Experience as a microbiologist within a food manufacturer.
